As a forensic psychologist Therese focuses on assessments through the conduct of pre-sentence assessments for courts and also assessments of risk of further offending of prisoners for the Queensland and South Australian parole boards. Her clinical experience developing and implementing criminogenic rehabilitation programs across Queensland and Victoria, and working therapeutically with offenders over many years, has provided extensive opportunities for her to develop sound assessment and formulation skills, and acquire a thorough understanding of the criminogenic needs of those who offend.

 

Her clinical experience also includes the supervision and management of a team of psychologists and counsellors within a Queensland correctional centre; assisting in the implementation of psychologists across Victorian community correctional services, supervision of forensic psychologists for registration; development and delivery of an undergraduate unit in forensic psychology (Victoria); and teaching undergraduate courses in forensic psychology (Bond University).

Therese's operational experience includes membership of the Queensland Parole Board, and leadership roles in the management of various agency units including Drug Court operations, Home Detention Unit, Community Corrections regions, and also strategic planning and policy co-ordination and offender policy and programs units. Therese has also participated in whole-of-government reviews of correctional organisations in Australia: Queensland (1999) and Northern Territory (2016); and also in Papua New Guinea (2017).

 

In 2015 Therese was invited to provide clinical training to psychologists and psychiatrists in Boston, USA to deliver psychological treatment to adult and juvenile firesetters. She was also appointed to provide psychological services and debriefing to staff operating the immigration detention centre on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea in 2017.
